Rumors are rampant about the iPhone6 and there is a lot that is being spoken about the handset that is believed to be released in the second quarter of 2013. Apple has not made any comment about the iPhone6 and I’m still wondering why people are speculating about the iPhone 6 when the iPhone5 is not out till now. I’m just going with the flow, presently and trying to find an answer to the question “Will iPhone6 have a larger screen?”, Larger does not mean that you have in your best gaming laptop, here larger screen means the screen which is made for handheld gadgets.
What the general public has to say
There was a poll that was conducted by 9to5 Mac and the results were akin to what I expected. Almost half of the population that voted in the poll wanted to see a display that was alteast 4 inches in site and a meager 13% of the population wanted a reduction in the size of the display as they wanted to see a screen that was close to 3.5 inches. This means that the screen will either stay the same, that is 3.5 inches or it will be increased to somewhere close to 4 inches.
The effect if the size increases to 4 inches but the screen resolution remains the same, that is 960 by 640 pixels. Given that there has been an increase in the average screen size of all the top notch smartphones that are available in the market, people are expecting an increase in the display size of the coming iPhone as well and that is quite natural. Thus Apple may come out with a handset that has a 4 inch screen, but keep the screen resolution the same as the iPhone 4S and that will be good enough. To increase the size of the display, the Home button will have to go and the virtual home button will appear. There is going to be a problem though, in case they increase the size of the display and do not make any change in the resolution of the screen, then they cannot market the handset with the retina display tag. This means that the new handset will not have a technology that was present in its predecessor and that is something really unlikely.
The effect if the iPhone6 has a display that has a screen size of 4 inches and there has been an increase in corresponding screen resolution as well and it has been made an HD display
If the screen size of the handset has been increased, then Apple will not really have a problem in increasing the screen resolution as well and that will make the display of the handset an HD one, which is impeccable and more than anything that we can wish for, or so it seems. If they keep the screen ratio as 3:2, they can still have the Retina display tag to go with their new model and at the same time, there will be the HD display.
There is going to be a bit of a problem in this case as well and that is many of the currently available apps will have to be redesigned to meet the specifications of the new iPhone model and that will be quite a time consuming and dreary task for the developers of the apps as they need the apps to fit not just the screen size but actually make changes in the resolution.
So, we can’t really answer the question “Will iPhone6 have a larger screen?” But we do hope that the answer is “Yes”.
